Back in December 2016, I met David Lelliott. He was the then British Deputy High Commissioner in Chandigarh (my city). That day he shared his experience of being a British diplomat with us.
He called it “Seven Lessons from Seven Postings”.
The seven things I got to learn that day were:
- Value the training you are given.
- Look after your team.
- Step out of your comfort zone.
- Listen with open ears.
- Values you have, pay you off.
- Relationships are worth.
- Appreciate the small gestures.
We had coffee together after the session and asked a few more questions related to his work, having fun at work and about BREXIT.
